Communicative Chinese 101 (CCHN 101)
Communicative Chinese 101 (CCHN 101) is customized for beginners who have never learned Mandarin before. CCHN 101, starting from fall semester, 2019, will cover 12 topics in everyday situations and introduce Pinyin, the Mandarin phonetic system. CCHN 101 will be presented by a professional and experienced instructor mainly in Pinyin, instead of Chinese characters. The students will develop listening and speaking skills as well as cultural awareness to communicate with people in Mandarin with confidence.
Upon completing CCHN 101, the students will be able to:
- Read Pinyin in Mandarin;
- Make self-introduction and introduce friends and others;
- Order food, buy daily necessities, ask for directions and express likes and dislikes;
- Talk about colors and weather, dates and time, sports and activities, family and pets;
