42 College Council The Council is appointed by the governor with one member elected by and from the student body of the SUNY College of Optometry. In accordance with statutes and policies established by the State University of New York Board of Trustees, this Council advises the president on the operations and affairs of SUNY Optometry. This group of men and women brings expertise in business, law, commerce, finance, real estate and philanthropy to their roles as caretakers of the Foundation’s endowment and supporters of its mission.
