What does receiving this award or scholarship mean to you?
This award acknowledges my dedication to encouraging future doctors’ involvement towards the advancement of our profession.
What drew you to the field of optometry?
Optometry combines an excellent work/life balance with a sense of accomplishment through vision and ocular health checks. It is extemely rewarding and flexible in how you practice.
What are your plans following graduation?
Helping take care of our veterans through an ocular disease residency at VA Harbor Health at the Brooklyn VA and St. Albans Community Center in Queens, New York.
What was your most transformative experience during optometry school?
The privilege to amplify student voices by serving on the American Optometric Students Association (AOSA) Board of Trustees. I anticipate staying involved in organized optometry as a Doctor of Optometry.
What advice would you give incoming or prospective optometry students?
Study without holding yourself back from getting involved in what interests you. Remember that everything you’re doing now will make you a better optometrist for your patients later.
