What does receiving this award or scholarship mean to you?
Receiving the award is truly humbling. It signifies the acknowledgment of my peers and mentors, and I'm deeply grateful for their support and guidance. This recognition serves as a reminder of the importance of continual learning and improvement in providing the best possible care for my patients.
What drew you to the field of optometry?
Working as an ophthalmic technician for a group retina private practice at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary after graduating from Stony Brook in 2017 opened a new world for me and made me very interested in optometry and ophthalmology.
What are your plans following graduation?
I will be working at a private OD/MD practice in Long Island alongside a cataract surgeon.
What advice would you give incoming or prospective optometry students?
Stay curious, stay committed, and stay connected. Embrace every learning opportunity, whether it's in the classroom, clinic, or through extracurricular activities. Seek out mentors who can offer guidance and support as you navigate through your studies. And remember to prioritize self-care and balance to sustain your passion for optometry throughout your career journey.
