Annual Security Report (Clery Act Report)

SUNY College of Optometry Annual Security Reports provided below are compiled and made available to members of the College Community and the public in compliance with the Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 U.S.C. §1092 (f), also known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). The purpose of the Clery Act is to provide important information about the safety and security of college communities to enable people make informed decisions when choosing a college for educational and or for employment purposes.

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to publish statements of security policy and report statistics for the certain crimes that occur in defined locations on and off college campus. The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act includes specific amendments to the Clery Act, which requires the disclosures of some policies and programs. All Institutions of Higher Education participating in the Higher Education Act-Title IV are required to report certain information to the U.S. Department of Education and must also make the information and annual statistics available to current and prospective students and employees, and others by October 1 of the following year.

Note: The crime statistics for public property adjoining the College of Optometry are collected by the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Presently, NYPD Office of Management and Planning provides crime statistics that are geographically inappropriate for Clery Act reporting.
